Hooray! 2010 is off to a great start! After a little maternity break and a busy holiday season, we are gearing up for an awesome year. Chris and Kerra’s Engagement shoot was a great way to start the year off!

Kerra and Chris both live in my college town, Birmingham, Alabama. **Insert Sigh** I loooove Birmingham, so being back and shooting there is always a blast. We can’t wait to go again for their awesome wedding in just a few months!

My new favorite staircase in the city:

Thanks for a fun morning, Kerra and Chris! We are so excited for May!
Ya’ll … seriously. I miss you. Seriously.
It’s been a couple of months now that I have been on maternity leave. Elliott is amazing … he brings us so much joy every day!! I’ve truly enjoyed the time off work more than I anticipated, but we are also SO pumped for 2010!!
We’ve been cleaning house … literally and metaphorically. Our calendar for weddings this year is filling up and we are taking a couple of weeks to re-vamp for the year … new workflow, actions, computer organization, etc. It’s a good feeling.
I’ve been itching to get back to shooting … so I was thrilled last week for Chris and Kerra’s engagement pictures. Here’s a quick preview of a photo that caught my eye today that I couldn’t resist playing with a little. More to come soon!

We have so much to be thankful for in 2009, and so much to look forward to in 2010!! Happy New Year!

Well, it’s official! We have a son!
Our sweet little Elliott finally, F-I-N-A-L-L-Y came to meet us on Tuesday morning at 4:20 am!

Needless to say, we are quite taken with him!
This officially marks the beginning of my maternity leave. Thanks for your patience as we are a little slower in responding (and posting!) in the coming weeks!

Tara and Ben’s wedding day was such a fun day of celebration. We spent most of the day at the beautiful Sawgrass Marriott ~ wow! We couldn’t have asked for a better backdrop! Their family and friends made the whole weekend so much fun, but most importantly, you could tell that they were just so thrilled to be marrying each other! I love that!
Getting ready in the suite at the Sawgrass:

Bride and groom:

So excited for their first moments together in the ceremony:

It’s official … married!

Back at the Sawgrass … it really couldn’t have been hotter outside but Ben and Tara totally pushed through and looked amazing! Totally worth it for the images we got!

Love, love this one … I wish California had awesome hangy moss like this!

Their first dance … precious!

Tara and her dad totally stole the show with their dance!

One of the many great moments of the reception … limbo under the groomsmen’s suspenders. Sidenote: both of these fellows are former grooms of ours! Making us proud on the dancefloor!

Ben breaking it down …

I loved the end of the night … Tara and Ben had the whole reception room to themselves for their last dance (you know, and their constant third wheel … me! But I only stayed for a minute!):

And an awesome sparkler + convertible farewell:

Ben and Tara, we can’t say thank you enough for having us out for your wedding weekend. It was such a blast and we’re so thrilled for you!

I know I’ve said it before but it’s really really true … we have the BEST clients! We were so excited when Ben and Tara invited us out to Jacksonville, FL for their wedding a couple of weeks ago. Both families made us feel so welcome; it was such a fun weekend for everyone, and we loved being there to capture it!
The festivities started Friday night with a beachside rehearsal dinner hosted by Ben’s family. His whole family worked so hard on the details for the wine tasting, dinner, and time of celebration!

I snagged Ben and Tara when they first arrived for a few beach photos … Tara of course looked fabulous when she walked through the door. Turns out her dress belonged to Ben’s grandmother ~ how great is that!?!

I’m not a huge fan of chopping heads in half in every photo, but every once in a while it just totally works. This feels so timeless to me:

Niece and nephews enjoying the sunset:

My favorite time of night. These glowy photos never get old to me!

It’s always fun to hear the personal stories shared at a rehearsal dinner. The best ones of the night were definitely stories about people confusing Ben with his identical twin Andrew!! So entertaining!

Coming next: wedding photos! I pulled one quick favorite as a sneak peek … there are more where this came from! Check back soon!

I know it’s hard to think about now, but 2010 will be here before we know it!! We just had our first engagement session for a 2010 couple ~ it’s going to be another great year!
Kim and Rich are getting married on his grandparents farm next May … need I say more? Of course, I’m crazy thrilled! They live in Atlanta, their wedding is in East Tennessee, we live in California, but we all managed to connect when we were in Nashville at the end of September! Yay!
They are such a great couple ~ so fun and easy to be with, not to mention super excited about each other. I love their story … they grew up in the same neighborhood but never knew each other until years later! You never know who might be just down the street from you!
A few favorites from their session ~ enjoy!

I love the story of Sara and Troy’s wedding day. Things were not at all how Sara had planned, but they were, well, kind of perfect. A few weeks ago, Sara found out that the barn she planned her reception in burned to the ground in a lightning storm. Plans moved forward for an outdoor ceremony and reception at the original site, but the week and day of the wedding called for incessant rain. Ouch.
But it all came together beautifully. The cement floor for the new barn was poured 3 days before the wedding, making a peaceful scene for the ceremony with a beautiful lake view. A tent was put up for the reception. And friends and family all pitched in to make it amazing.
The “back-up” location for getting ready since the cabin Sara had in mind didn’t work in the rain. Hmmm … I think that turned out ok!?!?!

Still getting married, rain or shine!!

I loved this location for the shot of Troy … one of my favorite groom portraits in a while:

The showers cleared up just in time for their first moment together and some beautiful outdoor shots! Hooray!

The groom with his men ~ the wedding party members were such troopers all day ~ in and out as we watched and worked around the rain:

Heading down the aisle with her dad:

The rain was falling on the lake and there was even some gentle thunder in the background during their vows … it was amazingly peaceful and serene!

And on to the party! Gigi’s cupcakes that I was eyeing all night … I have a weakness for cupcakes!! Can we just make a note that there is just as much icing as there is cake? That’s how to do it, if you ask me!

Congrats, Sara and Troy! Your day was so unique and truly awesome!
Yes, it’s that time of year again … the Holidays will be here before we know it! Is it just me or was summer particularly long this year?
